Born as Gnanadesikan on 2 June 1943, Ilayaraja turns 71 this Monday. Titled as Maestro and Isaignani, Raja's musical journey started in 1976 with Annakkili and the Isaipuyal has been entertaining music lovers from past 38 years.
Sharing his birthday with none other than Ilayaraja, director Mani Ratnam is celebrating his 57th Birthday. Madurai based Mani Ratnam was born as Gopala Ratnam Subramaniam on 2 June 1956 and married actress Suhasisni Charu Haasan in 1988.
Known for his films like Mouna Ragam, Geetanjali, Nayagan, Thalapathi, Anjali, Roja, Raavan and many more, Mani Ratnam also been a producer and screen writer to many of his films including Indira, Iruvar, Bombay, Yuva, Kadal and others.
For now, Ilayaraja is looking forward to Prakashraj's trilingual Un Samayal Arayil followed by his 1000th musical film Tharai Thappattai in Tamil.
