Laddu Babu Telugu Movie review:
Laddu Babu is a comedy movie directed by Ravi Babu and produced by Rajendra Tripuraneni under the banner of Maharadhi Films. The movie will see Ravi Babu teaming up once again with Allari Naresh who made his debut in “Allari” under Ravi’s guidance.
The leading ladies in the movie are Bhumika and Poorna. To boost the comedy aspect of the movie which is it’s USP, popular comedians including Brahmanandam, Ali, Jaya Prakash Reddy, MS Narayana, Krishna Bhagavan and Kondavalasa, are cast in the movie. Now, let’s take a look at the movie review.
Laddu Babu is the story of an extremely obese man (Allari Naresh). The movie has already generated a lot of buzz thanks to the heavy fat suit Naresh had to wear for eight hours during the shooting schedule of the movie.
Laddu Babu Movie follows his hilarious endeavours as looks to find a suitable wife and somewhere in that search falls in love with beautiful Poorna. So, whether he is successful in winning love of his life despite his obesity is the story of the movie.

Story :
Laddu Babu is a common man with a bloated appearance. This increase in weight occurs due to a virally infected mosquito bite. Laddu Babu is a happy go lucky guy who lives with his greedy and miser father. His father wants to marry off Laddu Babu for a reason. Laddu Babu in turn believes in love and finds a girl too and that is Maya. In the meanwhile, Laddu Babu gets introduced to a young boy with a single mother and that is Bhoomika. Laddu Babu gets tangled with so many unpredictable issues. What happens with their introduction ? Did Laddu Babu succeed in love or not ? What's his father's plan ? forms the rest of the story
Performances :
Laddu Babu (Allari Naresh) :
Allari Naresh did take a lot of effort to carry a role of this sort. It is highly difficult to handle but this man never showed that pain at any part. In fact he played his role with a lot of grace.
Kota Srinivas Rao :
This man plays the role of Laddu Babu's father. His dialogues of criticizing his son's weight is powerful and will even make the audience feel bad.
Bhoomika :
Bhoomika has an emotional role in the film. She makes her presence visible throughout the second half.
Heroine Poorna:
Heroine Poorna, the pretty woman has nothing much to do in the film except for flaunting her beauty that too just in a portion of the first half.
The kid :
The little boy did a good job for his age and justified his role for sure. He is in fact one of the highlights in the film.
Technical Aspects :
Cinematography :
The film was clean and neatly shot. The cameraman did a fair job in showing every actor and the location in a convincing manner.
Music :
Chakri's music was not so appealing. Only the 'Laddu Babu' song is appealing on the whole.
Direction :
Ravi Babu is known for uniqueness in his direction and that is seen in this film as well. However, he could have tightened the script a bit more to make it crisp. The concept can be appreciated for sure which reminds you one of an old Eddy Murphy movie.
Positive Aspects :
1. Naresh's performance
2. The little boy's charm
3. Bhoomika's beauty
4. Entry of Bramhanandam, Ali, Venu Madhav, MS Narayana and so on is a highlight.
Negative Aspects :
1. Story is really slow in both the halves.
2. Comedy is dependant upon mocking at a fat man who is helpless about his appearance.
Analysis:
Ravi Babu tried different plot to strike gold recreating the magic of Allari. However his story fell flat as the first half of the film is quite slow and second half sails through at snails pace towards a dragged climax. Comedy too looked routine and extreme sentiments too didnot help the film. Ravi Babu failed to evoke interest in the story with weak direction.
Naresh’s acting in the movie appears to be sluggish which was expected because of the heavy fat suit he had to wear for his character. But still he could have done better in the movie. Likewise, director Ravi has also woefully underperformed. The performance of the whole star cast severely lacks direction and cohesion.
Conclusion :
Although this is not a complete Allari Naresh or Ravi Babu styled movie, Naresh's hard work with the fat man's make up and all and the concept makes it worth a one time watch only !!!
