It was a glitzy, glamourous night as stars from Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada film industries descended at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai for the 61st Idea Filmfare Awards (South). The evening that celebrates cinematic excellence, saw Attarintiki Daredi sweep almost all the main awards in Tollywood. The Pawanstarrer won the Best Film, Best Director, Best Music Director and Best Lyricist — making it an AD night all the way! While accepting his award for Best Director, the usually reticent Trivikram Srinivas, who made a rare appearance with his wife Soujanya, said, "I dedicate this award to my friend Pawan Kalyan, who is a great human being and also the reason why the film released in first place..."
While music director, Devi Sri Prasad could not be present to collect his award due to his ongoing US tour, he sent a heartwarming audio-visual message in which he thanked everyone for their support. The award for Best Actor went to Mahesh Babu, for his performance in Seethamma Vaakitlo Sirimalle Chettu and the actor was gracious enough to acknowledge his co-star, Venkatesh's contribution to the film. "It feels great to win the award once again, but I must say that Venkatesh garu deserves this award as much as I do. Chennai has been lucky for me, as I have won three of my four Filmfare awards here."

Another big surprise of the evening was Nithya Menen — the talented, low-profile actor who stays away from award ceremonies, made an exception for the Black Lady as she arrived in a rare glamourous avatar to accept her first Filmfare Award. Nithya, who who the Best Actress for her performance in Gunde Jaari Gallanthayindhe, said, "I am dedicating this award to the Telugu audience, who have given me so much love and respect," she said.
Leading ladies from all four industries shimmied to some groovy filmy numbers, taking the entertainment quotient one notch higher. While Shruti Haasan stole the show as she danced to a medley of her hit Telugu numbers from Gabbar Singh and Race Gurram, Catherine Tresa turned out to be the surprise package. Her act — a tribute to the legendary Rajinikanth — was filled with spunk, as she popped and locked, rapped and grooved and even showed off some belly dance moves. Taapsee's closing act showed her in a new sexy avatar, as she grooved to her hit tracks.
