The "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge" ("DDLJ") hit team Aditya Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan are not teaming up anytime soon.
There were reports that Chopra and Khan are in talks to do a film together and recreate the "DDLJ" magic at the box office. A report in Deccan Chronicle stated that since the iconic movie "DDLJ" will complete 20 years next year, the director-actor team will come together to pay tribute to the film.
"The idea is to pay tribute to the original film. As of now, it's not clear if Kajol will be the leading lady, considering the recent issues between Yash Raj Films (YRF) and her," a source told DC.
But on Tuesday, YRF issued an official statement stating that the rumours are inappropriate. The production also said that when Chopra decides to make a film, there will be an announcement of it.
Here is the official statement from YRF:
"There are stories out in some sections of the media about Aditya Chopra's next directorial film with Shah Rukh Khan in the lead, with misleading titles attributed to this as well. All of this is completely untrue and inappropriate.
While Aditya Chopra will definitely direct a film soon, as of now he has not finalised what he is going to be making next and has not even started writing the script. Anything at this point in time would therefore be unfortunate and misleading conjecturing.
As and when he does finalise plans for his next venture, we will certainly be happy to make an announcement. Till then we would sincerely request all concerned to please refrain from speculating on the cast, story and title."
Chopra made his directorial debut with Khan and Kajol with "DDLJ," which is still running in Mumbai's Maratha Mandir. The film achieved "All-time Blockbuster" status and it went on to win 10 Filmfare awards.
In 2000, Chopra directed "Mohabbatein," which also become a blockbuster hit movie of that year. The director-actor duo came together again for "Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi" in 2008.
