Sidharth Malhotra and Riteish Deshmukh starrer "Ek Villain" has earned the second highest week one figure. The action thriller has beaten "Holiday – A Soldier Is Never Off Duty" and "Gunday" first week earning at the domestic box office.
Mohit Suri's directorial film has accumulated ₹ 77.20 crore from its seven days theatrical run in India.
The film has shattered week one records of "Gunday", "2 States", "Holiday" and "Humshakals".
By earning ₹ 77 crore, "Ek Villain" has the second highest week one figure after "Jai Ho". Salman Khan starrer "Jai Ho" earned approximately ₹87 crore in week one. Akshay Kumar starrer "Holiday" has the third highest week one figure at ₹68.63 crore, Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor starrer "Gunday" is at fourth rank with ₹ 63.08 crore followed by Alia Bhatt and Arjun starrer "2 States" at fifth spot with ₹ 60.77 crore.
"Ek Villain" which also features Shraddha Kapoor had an excellent first week. The film has maintained a strong hold at the box office. But it was mainly due to the opening weekend collection that the film has managed to put up great numbers.
The film witnessed fall in its income during weekdays, which is normal. But the overall performance of the film at the box office is excellent. The film has already achieved the superhit status and if it continues its non-stop run at the box office, then it will soon become a blockbuster hit.
Meanwhile, the collection of the film would fall in second week as the number of screens has reduced due to new releases. The film was released in 2500 screens on Friday 27 June, but after entering into second week the screen count has come down to over 1700.

But still the film is expected to dominate the box office as the new releases "Lekar Hum Deewana Dil" and "Bobby Jasoos" have opened on a slow note.
