If the latest reports are to be believed, newcomer Varun Tej might lock horns with superstar Mahesh Babu at the box office during the Dussehra festival period.
Mahesh Babu's "Aagadu," which is progressing at a brisk pace, is likely to hit the screens in the last week of September. Buzz is that the film might clash with Varun Tej's (Nagababu's son) "Gollabama" at the box office, which is expected to hit theatres in the first week of October.
"Gollabama" marks the acting debut of Varjun Tej, another star son from the mega family. The film, directed by Sreekanth Addala of "Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu" ("SVSC"), is touted to be a romantic action entertainer. After shooting in Pollachi, Kanyakumari and Bheemavaram, "Gollabama" team is currently shooting in Yanam.
The film is reportedly gearing up for release during the Dussehra festival period (2 October). Varun Tej is expected to compete with Mahesh Babu in his first tryst at the box office.
Earlier, there were reports that "Aagadu" will be clashing with Ram Charan's "Govindudu Andari Vaadele" during Dussehra festival in October. However, reports have emerged that the shooting of the family entertainer will get delayed and the film might not release in October.
With Ram Charan out of the race, the makers of "Gollabama" are planning to release the film during that time, reported Gulte. However, there is no official confirmation regarding the exact release date of the Varjun Tej starrer.
Mahesh Babu's films have clashed with Ram Charan's projects on two occasions – 2013 and 2014 Sankranti. In 2013, "SVSC" and "Naayak" clashed at the box office and both the films turned out to be hits. This year, Mahesh's "1: Nenokkadine" was completely outperformed by Ram Charan's "Yevadu."
The stars were set to lock horns again in October 2014, but apparently their clash has been averted. Still, "Aagadu" will not enjoy a solo release as it might face competition from Varun Tej's "Gollabama."
The newcomer has a huge fan following even before making his debut in the Telugu film industry. His first film with Addala is already creating a lot of positive buzz in Tollywood circles and expectations are huge among fans. The film might pose a big threat to "Aagadu," though the latter is sure to get a grand opening upon its release.
