Centre ayina state ayina, position ayina opposition ayina, power ayina pogarayina, nenu diganantha varake... Once I step in history repeats..." (Translation: Whether it's centre or state, position or opposition, power or pride, it's only until I enter the fray...) thunders Balakrishna in the dramatic climax of his recent film Legend. The dialogue has in fact turned out to be a teaser for the actor's political debut.

Scenes at Hindupur were reminiscent of those from the movie on Wednesday morning as Balakrishna filed his nomination from Hindupur — the Assembly constituency which was thrice represented by his father Late NTR.

The actor, who left for Bangalore, accompanied by his family on Tuesday evening, visited a Hanuman temple before proceeding at the head of a huge rally of supporters and fans to Hindupur to file his nomination papers. "I will carve out a new district out of Hindupur and rename it as NTR zilla," he promised amidst thunderous applause.

Speaking to reporters after filing his nomination, the actor side swiped at his nephew NTR Jr. "Pracharam cheyamani evarini bottu petti mari pilavalsina avasaram ledu, (There is no need to specially invite anyone to campaign for the party)," quipped the actor when asked if NTR Jr would be campaigning for him in the lead up to the elections.

The actor recently returned from a road tour across Seemaandhra and Telangana regions as part of the film's success tour. Will the actor repeat history? Well, that's what his fans are hoping for. One thing is for sure, with Balayya, the line between reel and real isn't too clear.
