Post the success of Pongal releases "Veeram" and "Jilla," Ajith and Vijay are busy with their upcoming projects.
Ajith has teamed up with director Gautham Menon for the first time in his film career. While the film, touted to be an action thriller, is yet to be titled, Thala fans have tentatively named it as "Thala 55" as it is the actor's 55th film.
The shooting of the film began on 11 April and is progressing at a brisk pace. Cinematographer of "Thala 55" Dan Macarthur has revealed that the team has shot three days of fight sequences. "Finished 3 days of fight scene. Some very cool stuff. Recovering from night shoots," Macarthur had tweeted a few days ago.
Ajith is reportedly playing a cop in the film. "Singam 2" actress Anushka Shetty, who is playing the female lead opposite Ajith, has also joined the film's sets. Latest pictures of Ajith and Anushka at "Thala 55" shooting spot have been generating a lot of buzz in social media circles.
Besides Ajith and Anushka, Arun Vijay and Vivek are appearing in pivotal roles in the film. Arun Vijay is reportedly playing the villain's role in the film, but the actor has not confirmed the same. He has completed three-days of the shoot for "Thala 55." In an interview to The New Indian Express, Arun Vijay has said that the Ajith starrer "would be one-of-its-kind film and you can expect the unexpected from me."
The film's music will be composed by Harris Jayaraj, who has teamed up with Gautham after nearly six years. A.M. Ratnam will be producing the film, while editing will reportedly be handled by Anthony.
The action thriller is expected to release by this year end.
Vijay-Murugadoss's "Kaththi"
"Kaththi" is one of the most-awaited films of 2014. The film's shooting, which kicked-off in February, is progressing at a brisk pace.
The film's team is currently shooting in Chennai and this schedule is expected to take place till the second week of May.
Vijay is reportedly playing a dual role in the film. Samantha has been paired up opposite ilayathalapathy for the first time. Music director Anirudh has been roped in to compose the songs. The young composer has already worked on two songs for the film and has now completed the third one.
"Kaththi" will mark the Tamil film debut of bollywood actor Neil Nitin Mukesh, who is playing the baddie in the action entertainer. Comedian Sathish is reportedly doing a pivotal role in the film, whereas details about the other cast and crew members are yet to be revealed.

The Vijay starrer is being produced by Ayngaran International and Lyca Productions. The action film will be hitting screens for Diwali 2014.
