Venkatesh-Meena's "Drushyam" has minted ₹13 crore in 10 days worldwide.
The film, which hit the screens on 11 July, took a decent start in India as well as in key overseas markets. The thriller family drama earned approximately ₹10.35 crore share from AP/Nizam box office, while it earned ₹2.75 crore from Karnataka, rest of India and overseas markets. Its 10-day worldwide collections stand at ₹13.1 crore, reported Andhraboxoffice.
"Drushyam" is a remake of Malayalam film "Drishyam", starring Mohanlal and Meena. While Venkatesh stepped into Mohanlal's role for the Telugu version, Meena reprised her role from the original. Directed by Sripriya, "Drushyam" has Nadiya, Sapthagiri, Naresh, Ravi Kale, Kruthika Jayakumar, Esther and Roshan Basheer in pivotal roles.
The film is running successfully in theatres and it remains to be seen as to how the family drama fares when debutant Bellamkonda Srinivas-Samantha's film "Alludu Seenu" hits the screens this Friday (25 July).
"Drishya" remake in Kannada, starring Ravichandran and Navya Nair, has also turned out to be successful. The film is also set to be remade in Tamil with Kamal Haasan in the lead role. Recently, the Tamil remake was launched by Kamal Haasan and "Drishyam" director Jeethu Joseph, who will be wielding the megaphone for the Tamil remake.
The shooting is expected to commence in August. It will be the first time that Jeethu will be teaming up with Kamal Haasan. The director doesn't seem to have any apprehensions about working with the versatile actor.
"Till date I have been proved wrong with regard to the rumours that I heard about all the big stars I worked with, be it Suresh Gopi, Mohanlal or others," Jeethu told the Times of India. "About Kamal Haasan, I was told that he interferes in direction. But after discussions with him, we have come to a mutual agreement and he seemed convinced about me as a director."
"But I leave the casting to him, as he knows the Tamil industry, the culture and even the slang more than me. I have only learnt from his experience and after interacting with him, I am very happy," he added.

Buzz is that Gauthami will reprise Meena's role in the Tamil version. There are also speculations that Sridevi has been approached to play a police officer's role in the remake. However, there is no official confirmation in this regard. Details about the film's cast and crew are yet to be revealed.
