The trailer of the much awaited women-centric thriller "Mardaani" is finally out and has Rani Mukherji playing a tough cop. The official trailer was launched on Tuesday, 24 June in Mumbai.
The trailer features a strong headed woman cop and her fight against child trafficking cases. Shivani Shivaji Roy, the character played by Mukherji searches for clues and confronts hidden criminals.
"Mardaani" is inspired by real life stories and the trailer gives an insight into the world of child trafficking in Mumbai and Delhi.
The two minute trailer that focuses on the actress' attitude and her effortless acting has received appreciation from viewers. Mukherji will be seen playing the role of a cop for the first time.
"Mardaani" is produced by Yash Raj Films and is very different from the regular romantic movies that the production house is known for. The film is expected to make huge impact on the viewers, who are eagerly waiting for the release.
The movie is directed by Pradeep Sarkar, who last worked with Mukherji in "Laaga Chunari Mein Daag" (2007), which was also produced by Yash Raj Films.
The film is set to release on 22 August.

Kahaani: The blockbuster thriller was released in 2012 and featured Vidya Balan, who played the character of Vidya Bagchi, a seven-month pregnant woman in search for her missing husband during the festival time in Kolkata.
Kahaani was written by Sujoy Ghosh along with co-writers Ritesh Shah and Sutapa Sikdar. The low-budget film was critically acclaimed for its storyand cinematography. The film earned more than ₹100 crore.
No One Killed Jessica: The political thriller released in 2011, starred two strong Bollywood actresses, Rani Mukherji and Vidya Balan. Directed by Rajkumar Gupta, the story was inspired by the real life incident of the Jessical Lal murder case. Lal, a Delhi based model was shot dead at a restaurant by a politician's son.
While, Mukherji played the strong media person whose coverage initiated nationwide protests, reulting in the case being re-opened, Balan, played Jessica's sister, whose struggle for the justice brought huge appeal and sentencing of the killer.
