"Humshakals" continued its good run on the second day (Saturday, 21 June) with the film raking in ₹12.59 crore at the Indian box office.
The multi starrer has crossed the ₹25-crore mark in just two days of its release. "#Humshakals Fri 12.50 cr, Sat 12.59 cr. Total: ₹ 25.09 cr nett. India biz," film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
The film was panned by critics for its silly, boring comedy. However, critics' reviews didn't seem to have affected the business of "Humshakals." The comic caper minted ₹12.5 crore on opening day and became the third highest opening day grosser of 2014 after Salman Khan's "Jai Ho" (₹17.75 crore) and Arjun Kapoor-Ranveer Singh's "Gunday" (₹16.12 crore).
Not just in India, but "Humshakals" has also opened well in Pakistan. The film has taken the second biggest opening of the year with a GBO of $81,910. Action entertainer "Jai Ho" tops the list with $99,000 debut day collections, reported Koimoi.
"Humshakals" collections from India were expected to drop on Saturday owing to poor reviews, but the film managed to sustain its business. Although the multi starrer did not witness much growth in its collections on the second day, it maintained steady business at the box office.
If the Sajid Khan directorial manages to stay steady or show some growth on Sunday, the film will definitely have a solid first weekend. While "Humshakals" has surpassed "Holiday- A Soldier is Never Off Duty" and "2 States" opening day collections, it remains to be seen if the comedy entertainer will surpass their first weekend figures.
The Akshay starrer has minted ₹41.32 crore, while Arjun-Alia Bhatt's romantic entertainer has fetched ₹38.06 crore in their debut weekend. Salman Khan's "Jai Ho" tops the list of 2014's biggest opening weekend grossers with ₹60.68 crore, followed by "Gunday" with ₹43.93 crore.

"Humshakals" is likely to end the opening weekend on good note. It will be interesting to see as to how the film fares in the weekdays. The Saif Ali Khan- Riteish Deshmukh-Ram Kapoor starrer will be facing competition from "Holiday", which is still going strong in theatres. Moreover, the release of much-awaited romantic thriller "Ek Villain" next Friday (27 June) is also likely to affect the film's business.
