Rajinikanth's latest film Kochadaiiyaan, which was dubbed in Telugu as Vikramasimha, might have got a blockbuster opening like Superstar's earlier films, but the mammoth effort which the team had put in is certainly being appreciated by almost everyone. For the first time, an Indian film was shot using motion-capture technology. And not just cinematography, it looks like even A R Rahman, who scored the music, had to work quite hard on the film.
He termed his work in Kochadaiiyaan as one of the toughest things he has ever done. The Oscar winning music composer took to his micro-blogging page saying, "Kochadaiiyaan was one of the toughest movies to score and mix for, due to the responsibility and role music had in the narrative.
Kudos to my whole team for coming through. We had to move forward on many sensibilities and step back for some others. We consciously stayed away from conventional massy numbers. With confidence in the script, we tried to stay true to dance numbers that were intrinsic to the setting of the movie and heighten the emotion. Trying my best to put together a score album soon!! P.S. Thanks for your enormous support in making this first Rajinikanth motion capture movie a great success!"
The film also has Deepika Padukone, Sarathkumar, Shobana, Nasser, Aadhi and Rukmini in lead roles. Soundarya Rajinikanth had directed the film and K S Ravikumar had written the story.
